Er ist das achtälteste Weingut der Welt und seit Jahrhunderten die Wiege weltberühmter Rieslinge. Er wurde im Jahre 1335 von Karthäusermönchen gegründet, die den Landsitz als Geschenk von Kurfürst Balduin von Luxemburg erhielten, und ihn bis zur Säkularisierung als Weingut betrieben haben. Seit 1811 befindet sich der Karthäuserhof in siebter Generation im Besitz unserer Familie.

- The grapes are grown in the Eitelsbach (Ruwer valley) village with a unique microclimate and the distinctive Devonian slate in the soil. They originate from the older plots of Karthäuserhofberg with forty years old wines.
The grapes were carefully brought to the cellar, briefly crunched, and then put on the press straight ahead. The fermentation occurred with natural yeasts, in oak barrels. After fermentation, the wine is allowed to mature on the full yeast for at least eight months– Patience always pays off in wine and winemaking.
The wine shows the typical flavors and mouthfeel of the unique combination of Devonian slate and iron in the soil: intense nose, very mineral and spicy, white stone fruit, crisp pear, and hints of citrus. Velvety and extremely juicy on the tongue, it has invigorating acidity without any sharpness. It is made to last but also wonderful to drink now. - ブドウ品種 / Grape Variety

Harvested early October, all grapes are picked by hand and gently pressed. In the cellar it is done as little intervention as possible. But with one major investment: time. Patience always pays off in wine and winemaking. No fining, all natural sedimentation, only sulfur added.

Bruno of Cologne was the founder of the Carthusian order. On the facade of the former monastery which was founded in 1335, the name Bruno is written in metal letters and accompanies us in our daily challenges: steep vineyards, slate soil and manual work.
The grapes are grown in steep vineyards in the Mosel and Ruwer valleys with perfect exposition and slate soil.
Harvested early October, all grapes were picked by hand and gently pressed. In the cellar it is done as little intervention as possible. But with one major investment: time. Patience always pays off in wine and winemaking. No fining, all natural sedimentation, only sulfur added just before bottling.

- The grapes come mainly from our monopole vineyard site Karthäuserhofberg, but deliberately also from Mertesdorf and Waldrach (all in the Ruwer valley) in order to bring together the entire spectrum of the different terroirs of Karthäuserhof into our estate wine.
The grapes were carefully brought to the cellar, briefly crunched and then put on the press straight ahead. The fermentation took place with natural yeasts in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation the wine is allowed to mature on the full yeast for several months – Patience always pays off in wine and winemaking.

- The grapes for our VDP.Grosses Gewächs come from our exclusive monopole Grand Cru site Karthäuserhofberg. It faces south by southwest and covers almost 20 hectares with a slope of up to 55%. The unique microclimate and because of the high iron concentration pink-copper-colored Devonian slate, make it the perfect place for the production of high quality Rieslings.
The grapes come mainly from our oldest plot in the Karthäuserhofberg called “Kronenberg” with about 80 year old vines. The grapes were all picked by hand, carefully brought to the cellar, briefly crunched and then put on the press straight ahead. The fermentation took place with natural yeasts partial in oak barrels and stainless steel. After fermentation the wine is allowed to mature on the full yeast for at about twelve months, release date of our GG is not until after two years – Patience always pays off in wine and winemaking.
The wine shows a ripe and aromatic nose of pineapple, almond, pear, mirabelle, some buttery elements and honeyed yellow fruits. It proves delicately fruity and creamy on the juicy yet fresh and citrus-driven palate with a finish which is nicely aromatic and full of presence. - ブドウ品種 / Grape Variety

- The grapes for our special quality wines (Prädikatsweine) come exlusively from our monopole site Karthäuserhofberg. It faces south by southwest and covers almost 20 hectares with a slope of up to 55%. The unique microclimate and the iron-concentrated, pink-copper-colored Devonian slate make it the perfect place for the production of high quality Rieslings.
All grapes were picked by hand gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel. After a long lees contact of about six months - patience always pays off in wine and winemaking – the wine was bottled in July 2023.
Spicy aromas of the spontaneous fermentation dominate up front. Fruity tasting notes (peach, grapefruit, white currants) appear and the slate aroma is lingering. Very juicy and tightly woven on the palate, with ivigorating acidity. A Kabinett that will continue to reveal new facets the next two decades. - ブドウ品種 / Grape Variety

The spiciest, wildest nose of all Karthäuserhof wines of the vintage and the densest, juiciest fruit. Very pure, no trace of honey or overripeness, just a lot of fruit and wet stone, coated with melty texture and fresh acidity. Long fruit reverberation without any dominance of sweetness. - Terroir: The vines grow on the Devon slate typical of the Ruwer. Above all, the Karthäuserhofberg provides depth and structure. The Mertesdorfer vineyards, on the other hand, represent finesse and elegance. The Karthäuserhof Brut owes its captivating freshness to the cool locations in Waldrach.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand, then gently pressed and fermented in a mix of stainless steel and wooden barrels. The base wine then matures on the full yeast before it is finally filled into bottles. This is followed by a 36-month aging period in the bottle.
Description: On the nose, the wine is exceptionally delicate. Fennel, lime, lemon, and very subtle brioche notes show the yeast. Everything is underpinned by the typical, stony minerality of the Karthäuserhof. The impression continues on the palate. The acid runs precisely through the mouth.
