Vignobles & Vins Picard is a distinguished family-owned enterprise rooted in the heart of Burgundy's winemaking tradition.
The Picard family has built an exceptional collection of estate-owned domaines, each carefully selected for their terroir expression and commitment to quality.
The estates are currently led by Francine Picard, who oversees the family’s vineyards and promotes a philosophy focused on plot expression, precision, and sustainable viticulture (organic and biodynamic).
Our complete portfolio :
Burgundy :
- Domaines Famille Picard : producing elegant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Côte de Beaune terroirs like Saint Aubin 1er cru or Chassagne-Montrachet.
- Domaine Levert-Barault : focused on Mercurey wines in the Côte Chalonnaise, highlighting the character of this historic appellation.
- Château de Davenay : situated near the south of the Burgundy, known for refined white wines and Chardonnay reflecting the region’s limestone soils like Rully and Montagny 1er Cru appellations.
Domaine Voarick : producing approachable and expressive Burgundy wines with freshness and eleganc from Givry and Mercurey.
Rhône Valley :
Beyond Burgundy, the family also owns Domaine St. Patrice in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where they craft Rhône wines combining power, balance, and minerality while applying Burgundian precision to southern varieties
This Domaine has the particularity to produce the only monopoly plot of Châteauneuf du Pape : the Clos St. Patrice.

Mercurey 1er Cru Champs Martin – 2022 (Red)
About the vintage
2022 offers us what Burgundy knows best: a vintage that is both qualitative and generous.
The vines handled the extreme weather very well, making the most of the slightest rain shower. Budburst, later than in recent years, partially protected the vineyard from the April frost.
Then, thanks to the subtle balance it maintains with the Burgundy terroir, the vines survived four heatwaves and a general lack of water without damage.
This vintage offers wines with lovely concentration and balance. The white wines stand out for their roundness, suppleness and complexity, while the reds are highly colored and supple on the palate, with good concentrations supported by silky tannins.
Finally, this vintage is astonishing: despite the very hot conditions of the year, its aromas of fresh fruit and its lovely vivacity open up a bright future.
Terroir
The legendary limestone soil of Mercurey gives the wines a mineral, racy and very sapid character, with the presence of marl and gravel.
Exposure: South / South-West
Altitude: approximately 300 meters
Area: 0.60 hectares
Vines planted: between the 1970s and the late 1990s
Viticultural practices
The vines are grown organically.
The soil is worked mechanically. The vines are pruned in simple Guyot with long canes and are disbudded every other eye so that the bunches develop beautifully and remain well aerated.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in crates, sorted on a sorting table and 100% destemmed.
The whole berries are conveyed directly into the vats in order not to crush the raw material.
Traditional Burgundy vinification is carried out in thermoregulated vats.

Finally, this vintage is astonishing: despite the very hot conditions of the year, its aromas of fresh fruit and its lovely vivacity open up a bright future.
Terroir
This terroir is of the Plaine de Saône type, with brown silty-clay soil and no limestone. The water reserve is very high and the vines do not suffer from drought throughout the year.
The soil is very deep, allowing good rooting and a high level of organic matter. We note the presence of deep limestone (precipitation of silica in limestone) and iron nodules.
The vines are located on several parcels of land in the lower part of the village. They range in age from the 1970s to 2018, covering a surface area of 1.53 hectares.
Viticultural practices
The grapes are grown biodynamically.
In spring, we stimulate the microbial activity of the soil with very energizing preparations such as 500 (horn manure) and 500P (prepared horn manure).
During the vegetative cycle, in addition to copper sulfate treatments in the vineyards, we also spray decoctions of horsetail, nettle, wicker and silica, which have energizing and disease-prevention properties for the vines.
Natural grass grows between the vines, and the soil is worked mechanically.
The vines are trained in single Guyot, keeping one long cane and one spur per vine. One bud is kept every two eyes in order to obtain well-ventilated vines and beautiful grapes.
Vinification
The grapes are sorted on a sorting table and 100% destemmed. The whole berries are transported to the vats in small stainless-steel wagons in order not to crush the raw material.
Once the berries are vatted, a pre-fermentation cold maceration begins for 8 days at 10°C.
After 8 days, the vat is heated to 18–20°C to allow the natural alcoholic fermentation to start.
During this phase:
2 pump-overs per day are carried out at the beginning and middle of the fermentation
reduced to 1 pump-over per day at the end of the alcoholic fermentation.
The total vatting time is 20 days.
The finished wine is then stored in stainless steel vats for 15 days in order to clarify and obtain a clear wine.

Côte de Beaune
About the vintage:
A hot and dry year, which will have known three heatwaves: end of June, July, end of August. The sanitary condition were perfect and the quantities produced were moderate due to the lack of water that summer. The white wines are rich and ripe, but fine and well balanced, the grapes having retained a good level of tartaric acid. Great vintage for the Pinot Noir which produced intense, ripe, balanced and very fine wines.
TERROIR
Clay and silt soil (Brown soil) with a western exposure. The plot is located in a "basin" where it is cool and the vine is rather late. There is some humidity but the soil dries well. The year of plantation is 1956-1957 (area 0,90 hectares).
VITICULTURAL PRACTICES
The vines are grown organically. Mechanical labour of the soil. They are pruned in simple guyot with long sticks and disbudded every other eye, so the bunches end up beautiful and airy..
VINIFICATION
Grapes harvested by hand in crates, sorted on a sorting table and destemmed at 100%, the whole berries are conveyed into vats in small stainless steel wagons so as not to crush the raw material. Traditional Burgundy vinification, in open thermoregulated vats.

Saint Aubin 1er Cru (Red) 2020
About the vintage
A great classic, born of a peculiar year
The 2020 vintage, produced in relatively complicated conditions and context for everyone, was marked by historical precocity from budburst to harvest. The result is absolutely exceptional and remarkably classic.
The early flowering season gave rise to hopes for an abundant harvest, but the high temperatures of the summer, coupled with the lack of precipitation, caused a significant water deficit.
Ripeness sometimes arrived at its own pace, just like the flowering season: choosing the harvest date required both patience and a cool head.
The peculiar conditions of this vintage generated new and quite unique balances. The white wines are fruity and express a nice aromatic complexity, with very pleasant acidity.
The red wines stand out for their incredible color. They are concentrated and have character while keeping a nice freshness that offers gourmet profiles focused on black fruits.
Terroir
This terroir is located on a steep hillside. The soils are poor and very chalky.
The result is a wine that is straightforward, fine, elegant and highly perfumed, as Pinot planted on “terres blanches” often is.
The vines were planted in the mid-1970s and are managed biodynamically.
Surface area: 2.30 hectares.
Viticultural practices
The vines are grown biodynamically.
The grapes are carefully hand-picked into small crates, then sorted on a sorting table before full destemming.
They are then transported in small stainless-steel cases in order to preserve the raw material in perfect condition without damage.
Traditional Burgundy vinification is carried out in open-top temperature-controlled tanks.

Finally, this vintage is astonishing: despite the very hot conditions of the year, its aromas of fresh fruit and its lovely vivacity open up a bright future.
Terroir
This cuvée is a blend of two areas in Mercurey, whose characteristics are quite different.
The grapes for the L’Automne cuvée mainly come from the Les Vaux plot, where the vines are quite old and benefit from perfect exposure. The grapes obtained are dense and fleshy, producing a deep and gourmet cuvée.
The blend is completed with a small proportion from the Les Montelons plot, located on the Mercurey plateau, opposite Rully. This site is at a relatively high altitude, with cooler temperatures and clay soils, producing crisper and fresher grapes.
The Le Printemps cuvée is produced using the reverse proportion.
Viticultural practices
The vines are grown organically.
The soil is worked mechanically. The vines are pruned in simple Guyot with long canes and are disbudded every other eye so that the bunches develop beautifully and remain well aerated.

MONTAGNY White 2023
Côte Chalonnaise
About the Vintage
The 2023 vintage stands out for its excellent quality, thanks to generally favorable weather conditions throughout the year.
After a mild winter, the vines developed at a steady pace. Two episodes of hail in mid-July caused some very localized damage.
The grapes reached maturity in early September:
White wines are characterized by their aromatic intensity, suppleness, and elegance.
Red wines offer intense aromas of fresh red fruit, with a dense and silky mouthfeel.
TERROIR
This Montagny comes from the Davenay locality, located below the Grande Pièce plot on the lower slopes.
The soil here is clay-limestone, with a slight presence of marl.
Only old vines, planted in the late 1980s and facing east, are cultivated here. The site is also marked by the presence of several natural springs that run through the vineyard.
VITICULTURAL PRACTICES
The vines are grown organically.
Mechanical working of the soil
Pruning in simple Guyot with long sticks
Disbudding every other bud
This method allows the bunches to develop in a more aerated and balanced way.
VINIFICATION
Grapes harvested by hand in crates
Sorted on a sorting table if necessary
Conveyed directly to the pneumatic press
Pressing is carried out with whole grapes.
The juice settles overnight in stainless steel vats. The must is then directly transferred to barrels to undergo alcoholic fermentation, following traditional Burgundy vinification, using both barrels and stainless steel vats.

About the Vintage
2022 offers us what Burgundy knows best: a vintage that is both qualitative and generous.
The vines handled the extreme weather very well, making the most of the slightest rain shower. Budburst, later than in recent years, partially protected the vineyard from the April frost.
Thanks to the subtle balance it maintains with the Burgundy terroir, the vines survived four heatwaves and a general lack of water without damage.
This vintage offers wines with lovely concentration and balance:
The white wines stand out for their roundness, suppleness, and complexity.
The red wines are deeply colored and supple on the palate, with good concentration supported by silky tannins.
Despite the very hot conditions of the year, the aromas of fresh fruit and the wines’ vibrant freshness promise a bright future.

About the Vintage
The 2020 vintage, produced in relatively complicated conditions and context for everyone, was marked by historical precocity, from budburst to harvest.
The result is absolutely exceptional and remarkably classic. Maturity sometimes arrived at its own pace, just like the flowering period. Choosing the harvest date therefore required both patience and composure.
The unique conditions of this vintage created new and distinctive balances:
The white wines are fruity, with a beautiful aromatic complexity and very pleasant acidity.
TERROIR
Plain terroir with very clay-rich soils, located south of the village in the hamlet of Poncey.
The wines produced here are pleasant, straightforward, and aromatic.
Vines planted in the 1990s
Surface area: 2.50 hectares
VITICULTURAL PRACTICES
The vines are cultivated according to organic farming principles.
Mechanical soil management
Pruning in simple Guyot with long canes
Disbudding one bud out of two
This practice allows the bunches to develop in a well-aerated and balanced way.

The white wines are characterized by their aromatic intensity, suppleness, and elegance.
TERROIR
Magnificent south-east-facing clay-limestone terroir, located on the first hillside overlooking the village of Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu.
This exposure allows the grapes to ripen early.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2020
Vieilles Vignes
About the Vintage
2020 is a well-balanced vintage combining freshness and generosity. After a very dry summer in 2019, the exceptionally early 2020 vintage marks the return of fresher, well-balanced wines.
The very mild spring quickly confirmed the vintage’s great earliness, with flowering in mid-May. There was virtually no rain from mid-June to early August, until several rainy spells prevented any risk of water stress.
The vintage was characterised by good acidity and great elegance, with very silky tannins.
Plots
La Bertaude, Bois-Lauzon, Cabrières d’Orange, Cabrières de Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Bois-Dauphin, Le Pied Long, Les Bousquets, Les Terres Blanches, Les Marines, Les Galimardes.
Terroir
The unique character of Châteauneuf-du-Pape Domaine St Patrice comes from the diversity of its terroirs.
The clay- and sand-rich soils with dominant pure white clay and red clay, covered with worn pebbles and limestone rocks, as well as traces of yellow clay, constitute the solid foundations on which our wines blossom.
Vine Growing
In November, winter ploughing begins, the first task after the harvest. The soils need to breathe and the vines must be protected from the cold.
Pruning is completed as late as possible, waiting for the sap to rise in order to avoid plant health risks. This also delays budburst.
In spring, around early May, a second soil cultivation takes place to aerate the base of the vines and rootstocks, warm the soil and stimulate vine growth. Additional hoeing may follow to level the soil and prevent dryness from affecting the vines.
At that stage the grapes enter their growth phase. To obtain optimal ripeness, leaves are trimmed within 20 cm of the bunches.
Even when technological maturity is reached, phenolic maturity may still take longer.
Harvest usually starts mid-September with Syrah and finishes mid-October with Mourvèdre.
Blend
70% Grenache
20% Mourvèdre
10% Syrah
Vinification & Ageing
Whole bunches are used for 30–60% of the grapes depending on the variety.
Pre-fermentation maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place exclusively in concrete tanks. Light pumping-over and infusion of the grape solids last for about five weeks.
The wine is aged for 14 months in:
concrete vats
large oak barrels (foudres)
half-muids
French oak barrels
The wines are bottled in spring and then kept in the cellar for one full year before release. - ブドウ品種 / Grape Variety

ABOUT THE VINTAGE
The 2019 vintage saw a return to normal rainfall in the spring, but was marked by the heatwave at the end of June and an excessively dry and hot summer. The lack of water had more of an impact on berry size, which remained very small until late in the season. The bunches only really closed at the end of veraison, thanks to the occasional summer rainfall. The rain in mid-September enabled the Grenache grapes to reach phenolic maturity.
The result was thick skins, intense colours and excellent purity. The perfect state of health of the grapes enabled us to produce very colourful, unctuous and generous wines.
PLOTS
Clos St Patrice
TERROIR
The soils of Clos St Patrice are just as unique as the wine they produce: the dark brown sandy soils that cover most of the Clos give way to a yellow sandy type of soil that covers the rocky substrate, partly covered in worn pebbles.
VINE GROWING
Come November, the winter ploughing begins, the first chore after the harvest: soils need breathing and the vine strains need protecting from the cold.
The pruning of the branches is completed as late as possible, as the ascending sap is to be waited for in order to prevent any plant-health risk. As such, budburst is postponed.
During the spring, in early May, the second labour occurs, with a view to aerate the feet of the stump and the rootstock, warm up the latter and stimulate the entire vine. This will be followed by some hoeing when needed in order to level the soils and preventing dryness from affecting the stump.
At that point, the grapes will enter their growing phase. In order to obtain an optimum ripeness, we trim the leaves within 20 cm of the bunches. Even when the technological maturity is achieved, the slower phenological maturity is still pending and will come later.
